They are a two hit wonder.
When second sister Billie Jo joined in 1972 they didn't change their name.
They broke up in 1976 when Carter quit to join a black Hebrew sect, changing his name to Prince Gideon Israel.

Why they might not be annoying:

Their lush harmonies were unfairly dismissed by soul music aficionados as 'not gritty enough' and sounding 'too much like the 5th Dimension.'
'Treat Her Like A Lady' was a Top 10 hit in 1971 and 'Too Late To Turn Back Now' hit the Top 10 in 1972.
Carter (Israel) was trying to reunite the family act in 1991 when he died.
