The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

    He writes unauthorized biographies.
He subtitled his book on the New York Mets: 'A Season of Brawling, Boozing, Bimbo-chasing and Championship Baseball with Straw, Doc, Mookie, Nails, The Kid, and the Rest of the 1986 Mets, the Rowdiest Team Ever to Put on a New York Uniform--and Maybe the Best.'
He once blogged about finding blood in his feces after using the toilet.
He called Tim Tebow's father 'pretty evil' for his Evangelicalism (the piece's title? 'I Hope Tim Tebow Fails').
He was criticized by Walter Payton's family for detailing the football star's drug use and adultery (prompting Payton's brother Eddie to publish his own memoir in response).
The backlash was intense enough that Mike Ditka (who penned the forward to the book) openly said in an interview he would 'spit on' Pearlman if he ever saw him.
He responded to Ditka as follows: 'Ditka is, in no particular order, a dolt, a bully, a thug, a moron, an ass and a fool. He also happens to be the man who coached the Bears to the Super Bowl XX title, which means he can do no wrong in his adopted hometown of Chicago.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He got his start in journalism in 1989, when he interned at a weekly newspaper in Cross River.
After graduating from the University of Delaware, he was hired as a food and fashion writer by The Tennessean in Nashville.
His story on John Rocker (published December 27, 1999) gained wide exposure after the baseball star was quoted making several questionably racist statements while discussing the New York Mets and their fans.
His book on the Mets ('The Bad Guys Won') spent eight weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list in 2004.
He has used his blog to write about such intimate issues as seeing a rival book get publicity in Sports Illustrated, his old job of seven years.
