    Born in Paris, France
    WW1 veteran; developed the strategy of the indirect approach (hitting the enemy at his weakest point and avoiding direct attacks on strong enemy positions)
    His thought inspired the Nazis to develop the 'blitzkrieg' method of warfare
    Wrote 'Strategy,' 'The German Generals Talk,' 'The History of the First World War,' 'The History of the Second World War' and a biography of Winston Churchill

Why he might be annoying:

    Against custom, he continued to use the title of Captain after his retirement.
    The Nazis used his ideas while allied forces ignored them.
    He was a poor student at Cambridge and said all he owed to Cambridge was his taste in food and wine.
    His own combat experience was limited.
    His full name was Basil Henry Liddell Hart.
    He was a relentless self-promoter.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was gassed during WW1 leading to a medical retirement.
    He spoke out against the carpet bombing of German and Japaneses cities.
    His writings affect military strategy (especially armored warfare) to this day.
    His strategy, if followed, reduces casualties on both sides.
