Why Indio, Calfornia might not be annoying:

    It was first named as Indian Wells but too many towns already had that name, hence the change to ‘Indio.’
    It first developed as a stop for trains to get water refills. (1870’s)
    To provide a home-y feel for train operators, it eventually provided a hotel and eating spots.
    The location’s climate was ideal for farming cotton, dates, grapes, onions and citrus fruits; so it became an agricultural region.
    It eventually developed as a residential and tourist destination.
    It hosts the popular Coachella Music Festival.
    It hosted a Desert Trip, a hugely successful three-day musical event featuring Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Roger Waters, Bob Dylan, The Who and Paul McCartney on April 15, 2016.
    It incorporates the Native American culture in the arts scene.
    It provides hot-air ballooning as a recreation!
