Commentator

The Resume

    (December 11, 1962- )
    Middle name is Anne
    Editor/Co-Founder of Recode (2003)
Editor for the All Things Digital column in The Wall Street Journal (1997-2003)
Host of the Recode Decode and Pivot podcasts
Tech Writer for The New York Times

Why she might be annoying:

Right-wing commentators have confused her with Rachel Maddow on several occasions.
She mistakenly attributed a comment made by Eric Holder to Cory Booker during a sit-down with Hillary Clinton, prompting Clinton to joke 'I know, they all look alike.' The reaction was almost universally negative.
She had a back-and-forth with Sean Hannity after penning a New York Times op-ed blaming the host and Fox News for misleading her elderly mother on the dangers of Coronavirus. Hannity threatened to sue.
She deleted several profanity-laced tweets attacking the Covington Kids after it became clear the footage had been edited (except for one tweet in which she bizarrely uses the incident to plug a Gillette Men's ad).
She said: 'A lot of these people I cover are babies. I always call them papier-mache - they just wilt.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She interned with Ryan Murphy at the Washington Post.
She answers questions weekly during live videos on Twitter.
She wrote two books on AOL and Steve Case that were well-received.
She nearly died after suffering a stroke on a trip to Hong Kong in 2011.
New York Magazine called her 'Silicon Valley's Most Feared and Well-Liked Journalist.'
She was praised for her handling of an interview with Mark Zuckerberg, nailing him on Facebook's mishandling of disinformation on the platform.
By all accounts, Hillary Clinton's team threw her under the bus following the blowback from the 'they all look alike' comment.
