She had a face-lift.
She gained international recognition mostly because Russian distributors illegally made copies of her films (over 100 different ones), selling them for showcasing all over Europe.
She reportedly intended on having all of her films destroyed after her death (but was talked out of the idea).
She was difficult to negotiate a contract with and became too expensive to hire.

She was the first person in history to become a millionaire from a career in acting.
She co-founded United Artists with D.W. Griffith, Charlie Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks.
