The Resume

    (1991- )
    Non-profit civil rights organization
    Founded by Reverend Al Sharpton
Headquartered in Harlem, New York City
Known for protesting racial profiling and police brutality
Over 105 chapters in cities in the US

Why they might be annoying:

Al Sharpton has been accused of using it to pad his pockets.
For instance, he was criticized for soliciting $100 donations from black pastors attending NAN rallies.
Sharpton also sold the rights to his life story to NAN for over half a million dollars.
Its thunder was stolen by Black Lives Matter.
It was charged with $1.9 million in back taxes and penalties by the IRS (2014).
They push for slavery reparations - which can be a complicated and divisive issue.
They've had territory wars with the New Black Panther Party (telling them to 'get out of Charleston' when they showed up after the 2015 church shooting).
They have long been unsuccessful in their attempts to cancel Kid Rock over his politics and love of the Confederate flag (it should be noted he's told them to 'kiss my ass').

Why they might not be annoying:

They raise funds for the funerals of police brutality and shooting victims.
They led the opposition to New York Mayor Bloomberg's stop-and-frisk program.
Its annual convention regularly attracts Presidential hopefuls.
The convention's importance to Democrats is so mutually understood that the media dubbed it 'the Sharpton Primary.'
They led protests against the The Oscars at the height of the #OscarsSoWhite movement.
They led protests against the NFL over its rules to end player protests of the National Anthem.
They organized a march in honor of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, on August 24, 2013.
It rehabilitated Al Sharpton's image following the humiliation of the Tawana Brawley hoax.
