The Resume

    (April 25, 1945- )
    Born in Placitas, New Mexico
Promoter of the face on Mars
Claims advanced civilizations exist or once existed on the Moon, Mars and various moons of Jupiter and Saturn and that the government is covering up the evidence
Wrote 'The Monuments of Mars: A City on the Edge of Forever' (2002) and 'Dark History: The Secret History of NASA' (2007)

Why he might be annoying:

He continued to insist the Mars face is evidence of an advanced civilization even after higher-resolution images from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor (1997) and the European Space Agency's Mars Express (2006) showed it to be nothing more than an irregularly shaped mesa.
He immediately claims any odd image in a NASA picture as evidence for his theories, regardless of what later evidence suggests is really in the picture.
Many of the 'alien structures' he analyzes are not in the original picture but were created when he took a compressed jpeg image and blew it up beyond its resolution limits.
He claims that the Apollo astronauts 'had their memories selectively edited' to forget seeing evidence of a lunar civilization.
He claims to be the first person to suggest that Jupiter's moon Europa has a liquid ocean beneath its icy surface, even though his earliest paper on the subject cites previous authors.
He claims 9/11 was a Masonic conspiracy.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a fact-checker for Walter Cronkite during the Apollo missions.
Although he believes the Apollo missions took place, passages from his books have been seized upon by moon-landing hoax theorists, producing some entertaining conspiracy loon vs. conspiracy loon debates.
He claims Old Navy stores are part of a Masonic conspiracy. (We knew there was something suspicious about them!)
