Oddity

The Resume

    Florida-based attorney
Dressed as the Grim Reaper to protest the reopening of Florida beaches during the COVID-19 pandemic

Why he might be annoying:

He traveled up and down the Florida coastline dressed as Death.
He legitimately creeped out beachgoers and was accused of 'fearmongering.'
He grabbed headlines in March 2020 when he filed a lawsuit seeking to force Ron DeSantis to close beaches because of the COVID-19 pandemic (the Grim Reaper stunt was to draw attention to said lawsuit).
His stunt was designed to shame people into 'staying home' but he had no problem attending mass protests in the wake of the George Floyd killing, in which there was a clear lack of social distancing in place (he even ironically promoted clips of his Grim Reaper stunt amid the pictures of himself at the protests).
The stunt resulted in prosecutors filing a motion in Walton County to pursue sanctions against him for 'violating rules of professional conduct' and 'violating the oath of admission to The Florida Bar' (March 2021). A Santa Rosa County judge has refused to toss out a lawsuit (July 2021).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He supports Black Lives Matter.
He ironically made for a great tourist attraction.
He explained his Grim Reaper stunt by saying: 'I’m a huge proponent of public beaches, and I’ve been fighting for that for years, but I think that the danger of bringing all the people here to our area, and spreading the virus. I think it’s going to prolong the recovery we have.'
His 'Remove Ron' Political Action Committee trolled CPAC 2021 with a plane banner reading: ‘Welcome Insurrectionists!’
