Why he might be annoying:

His only surviving poem has little artistic value.
He wrote philosophy in hexameter verse.
His poem began with the goddess Dike granting divine wisdom upon him, thereby guaranteeing that everything he has said is true.
He held that change is impossible.
He believed that if we can conceive of something, then it must exist.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was probably the first philosopher to discuss ontology (The metaphysics of being) and used modal propositions (the logic of necessity and possibility).
He wrote philosophy in an interesting way.
He was born into a wealthy family, but chose to write philosophy and poetry as well as serving in the legislature.
He is said to have lived a good life.
Amongst the Greeks, the term a 'Parmenidean Life' was synonymous with living a blessed life.
