Philosopher

The Resume

    (circa 500 BC- )
    Transferred philosophy to Athens
    Wrote the book 'On Nature'

Why he might be annoying:

When he said that the Sun was a white-hot stone, he was sentenced to exile (Sounds just like what happened to Galileo).
    He committed suicide.
He rejected Empedocles' theory because he thought that there was no scientific reason for it.
He thought that snow had black and white particles, and that white simple predominates.
He thought the mind had a place in the universe, and he was criticized by Plato and Aristotle for that.
While in prison, he attempted to square a circle using a compass and a straight edge.

Why he might not be annoying:

He believed in an indefinite number of basic substances (Atomism).
It is believed that he was the teacher of Socrates.
He was also the teacher and friend of Pericles.
He thought that the sun was a ball of fire, not a god like predecessors thought (he was right).
