    Low budget director of 'Glen or Glenda,' 'Plan Nine from Outer Space,' 'Jail Bait' and 'Shotgun Wedding'
    Died of heart failure at 54 years old (1978)
    Tim Burton directed his biopic, 'Ed Wood,' starring Johnny Depp (ironically the cost of this film well exceeded the cost of all Ed Wood's films combined)

Why he might be annoying:

    He suffered from depression.
    He was a cross dresser.
    He claims he wore bra and panties under his uniform while fighting in World War II.
    He used tons of aliases.
    His first marriage was annulled when his wife freaked out, after seeing him strip down to ladies underwear on their wedding night.

Why he might not be annoying:

    His directorial sense was so bad, that it has become campy and enjoyable in retrospect.
    He used lightning for dramatic scenes.
    He rarely shot a scene twice and would try to use the first take, mistakes and all.
    Bela Lugosi died while acting on his film 'Plan 9,' so he replaced him with his wife's chiropractor who was a foot taller.
    The chiropractor covered his face, had no speaking lines and was quickly killed off by being run over by a car.'
    Many of the serious lines he wrote became comical today.
