    Born in Budapest, Hungary
    Widely known as the Frida Kahlo of India
    Daughter of a Punjabi Sikh aristocrat and a Hungarian Jewish opera singer
    Paintings include 'Young Girls' (1932), 'Group of Three Girls' (1935), 'Brahmacharis' (1937), 'Bride's Toilet' (1937), 'South Indian Villagers Going to Market' (1937), 'Village Scene' (1938), 'The Bride' (1940), and 'Two Elephants' (1940)
    Died in Lahore when she was in a coma, most likely from peritonitis caused by a failed abortion

Why she might be annoying:

    She was expelled from her convent school after declaring herself an atheist.
    She had an affair with her first cousin Victor Egan while engaged to Yusuf Ali Khan.
    She eventually married said cousin. (1938)
    Despite her marriage, she had love affairs with both men and women.
    Despite her friendship with Jawaharlal Nehru, she never drew his portrait because she thought he was too good-looking.
    She criticized the Bengal School of Art, the first movement of modern Indian art, for stagnating Indian art.
    No more than ten of her paintings have been sold globally.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She enjoyed reading and playing the piano.
    She sympathized with the poor and disadvantaged of India's population.
    She also sympathized with the Indian National Congress, which advocated for Indian independence.
    The letters she exchanged with Nehru were burned by her parents when she got married in Budapest.
    She challenged clichés of the 'exotic East', opting instead for a realistic depiction of India.
    She has influenced future generations of Indian artists drawn to her depiction of the plight of women.
    The Indian government has declared her paintings as National Art Treasures.
