The Resume

    (1989-2004)
    Founded in Waco, Texas
The most notable lineup was Drew Womack (lead vocals), Tim Womack (lead guitar, background vocals), Scott Saunders (keyboards), Doug Virden (bass guitar, background vocals), and Brian Westrum (drums)
Notable singles include 'Whatever Comes First,' 'Hand of Fate,' 'What About You,' 'Leaving October,' 'Ride' and 'Everybody's Gotta Grow Up Sometime'

Why Sons of the Desert might be annoying:

    They were one hit wonders.
They were unable to replicate the same amount of success with their other singles.
They performed 'Goodbye Earl' at concerts, with the hope of being part of their second album.
That strategy backfired when they didn't secure it with the record label, which in turn allowed the Dixie Chicks to record it and turn it into a single for themselves.
They took their band name from the 1930's comedy film of the same name.
Their lineup changed in the years following the release of their debut album.
Their lineup was shrunk down to only the Womack brothers at the time they disbanded.

Why Sons of the Desert might not be annoying:

They started out as a college band.
They wrote most of their own songs.
Their debut single 'Whatever Comes First' reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Country Music charts (1997).
They recorded background vocals on Lee Ann Womack's single 'I Hope You Dance.'
Frontman Drew Womack later replaced Richie McDonald as the frontman for Lonestar (2021).
