Why she might be annoying:

She shaved a year off her age when she became a naturalized American citizen.
Only one of her three marriages lasted longer than two years (all ended in divorce).
She went from a matinee idol with leading lady status in silent films to being lucky if she could get starring roles in B-movies.
Her movie career petered out in the mid-1930’s and she retired without anyone even really noticing.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She was a Ziegfeld Girl.
She mainly retired from filmmaking to take care of her invalid mother.
Her final years as a star weren’t a total loss as she secured leading roles opposite both a young Humphrey Bogart and Clark Gable.
She fell in love with the Hawaiian islands filming on location in the 1920’s and later moved to Honolulu in 1955, where she spent the rest of her days.
She was a celebrity-in-residence at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel at Waikiki and briefly came out of retirement to guest star on two episodes of Hawaii Five-0.
