Actress

The Resume

    (October 19, 1930-July 10, 1986)
    Born in Fort Worth, Texas
Birth name was Nona Josephine Goddard
Acted in 'Mask of the Avenger,' 'The Family Secret,' 'Ten Tall Men,' 'The Son of Dr. Jekyll,' 'The Brigand,' and 'Captain John Smith and Pocahontas'

Why she might be annoying:

She had an allergic reaction on the set of the ‘Pocahontas’ movie after dying her blonde hair jet black for the part (although it could also have been a reaction the Red Face paint…).
She was – to put it mildly – miscast as Chief Powhatan’s teenaged daughter (mainly due to her having been a 23-year old, fair-skinned, blue-eyed starlet at the time).
The released film was a dismal failure and her career suffered as a result; permanently relegating her to the Poverty Row film sector.
She had a bitter custody suit following her divorce from first husband Bruce Tilton, which she lost, further damaging her career in the process.
She said: ‘I see now that I was temperamental. I didn't cooperate with publicity. I didn't want to do cheesecake, not because my legs were bad, because they aren't. If I had it to do over again, I would do it differently. I realize now that cheesecake and publicity are an important part of the movie business.’

Why she might not be annoying:

She made three films with John Derek and Anthony Quinn each.
Her stepmother was Grace McKee, best known for being Marilyn Monroe’s foster mother. The two lived together on-and-off as foster sisters for years.
She asked Columbia execs to recast her in ‘All Ashore,’ because she felt her singing and dancing skills were not up to par, but they refused. They then released her from her contract after the movie premiered, citing her poor singing and dancing as the reason (tried to tell ya!).
She made ends meet by working as a waitress in an ice cream parlor near the UCLA campus when her career hit a slump around 1955.
She was rediscovered waiting tables there by Burt Lancaster and had a brief comeback as a result.
She retired from film acting in the early 1960’s and was married to her second husband for nearly twenty-five years until her death.
