Why he might be annoying:

He looked like he should be playing for the Bears more than he should be playing for the Cubs (6'5, 250lbs).
He had a fiery temper.
He only has three pitches, but just two of them seem effective.
He cheered and helped Kyle Farnsworth beat up Paul Wilson (June 19, 2003).
By age 22, he was married with two kids.
He lost every game he started in the 2003 playoffs, including a Game 1 collapse against the Marlins where he had a five run lead.
After Barry Bonds lined out to him with two outs and the bases loaded, he started screaming and pounding his chest. Barry responded in an interview by saying: 'I don't get upset about things like that, brother. He [Zambrano] will learn respect eventually. I promise you. He'll learn respect, I guarantee that.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a rare good hitting pitcher.
He is a switch hitter and hit a game winning home run (July 25, 2003).
He had a huge fan base at Wrigley Field.
He moved from a shaky bullpen pitcher to a solid starting pitcher.
