Why he might be annoying:

    He threatened to retire if he was traded to the New York Rangers.
    He initially had disdain towards the Maple Leafs, until he was coaxed into accepting a trade to the team by Punch Imlach.
    He served as a Member of the Canadian Parliament while playing for the Maple Leafs.
    He got his nickname 'Red' as a result of having red hair.
    Despite two successful seasons as the Kings head coach, he left the team in favor of the Penguins head coaching job (1969).
    He hung a pyramid power poster in the Leafs locker room and had his players stand under it with their sticks to counter the Philadelphia Flyers good luck charm of Kate Smith's rendition of 'God Bless America' during their playoff series (1976).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the first recipient of the James Norris Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the top defenseman (1954).
    He was versatile, as he was able to play both the forward and defensive positions.
    He was one of the first players in NHL history to win eight Stanley Cups without being a member of the Montreal Canadiens.
    He was the first head coach in the history of the Los Angeles Kings franchise.
    He was described as being a scrappy competitor by his teammates and opponents alike.
    He played the majority of the 1958-59 season on a broken ankle, in order to keep the Red Wings in a playoff race.
