Why he might be annoying:

    He had a nomadic hockey career, both as a player and a coach.
    He played and coached in 18 different cities combined.
    His Senators teams were considered some of the worst ones in NHL history.
    He presided over the Senators team which was accused of deliberately throwing games in order to secure the 1st overall pick (1993).
    He was the first coach to be fired by the Senators the 1995-96 season.
    He succeeded and eventually was replaced by Mike Milbury as head coach during his tenure with the Islanders.
    He sported a mullet during the early part of his coaching career.
    He was suspended three games and fined $500 US after he punched an opposing player in the head during a bench-clearing brawl (1986).
    Prior to 2020, his teams only had one appearance in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He served as a player/coach in his final couple seasons, before moving to coaching full time.
    He guided the Bruins to an appearance in the Stanley Cup playoffs in his lone season at the helm.
    He was the first head coach in the history of the Senators franchise.
    He was respected by his players and coaches alike.
    He had the opportunity to coach in his hometown of Moncton when the Jets farm affiliate was based there.
    He takes pride in his status as a hockey nomad.
    He brought a stabilizing presence to the Stars, following the firing of Jim Montgomery.
    He coached the Stars in the first Winter Classic game held in the state of Texas.
    He guided the Stars to their first Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 20 years (September 14, 2020).
