Sculpted St. Mark,’ ‘John the Evangelist,’ ‘Feast of Herod,’ ‘David,’ ‘The Singing Gallery,’ ‘The Prophet Jeremiah,’ ‘The Entombent of Christ,’ ‘The Penitent Magdalene,’ ‘The Martyrdom of St. Lawrence’ and ‘The Maries of the Sepulchre’
Patronized by the Medici family
Considered the founder of modern sculpture

Why he might be annoying:

He went by a pretentious single name.
He never married or had any children.
He was known to be hard to work with.
While working on a statue of the Prophet Habbakuk, he would often look at it and say, ‘Speak, damn you, speak.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He did not care much for money, keeping all of his in a small bread basket.
His bronze statue of ‘David’ was the first nude statue of the Renaissance.
He developed sculpting methods that are still used to this day.
