The Resume

    (March 17, 1992- )
Born in Peckham, London, United Kingdom
Trained at east London’s Identity School of Acting
Was active in South Thames College (Wandsworth) theatre productions there, including the lead in Othello in 2010
Acted in 'Junkearts' (2011), 'Half of a Yellow Sun' (2013), and 'Imperial Dreams' (2014)
Acted in British television shows 'Becoming Human,' 'Law and Order: UK,' '24: Live Another Day,' and 'Major Lazer' (voicework)
Known for his portrayal of Moses in his film debut, 'Attack the Block' (2011)
Attained worldwide celebrity in the role of Finn in the blockbuster, 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' (2015)
Also did voice work for Finn, as a playable character, in the 'Disney Infinity: 3.0 Edition' video game

Why he might be annoying:

He expressed interest in playing Marvel's T'Challa, the Black Panther, in a movie.
His last name sounds some kind of vegetable (or the lead in The Waltons).
He dropped out of Greenwich University to concentrate on acting.
He initially kept his acting enthusiasm a secret from his friends.
His father originally wanted him to be a preacher (as such he didn't entirely grasp the significance of his son winning a role in the 7th Star Wars installment).
He prefers to date women who are 'green' (as in, eco-friendly).
He was mentored by Robert Downey, Jr.
An HBO/Spike Lee drama pilot, 'Da Brick,' based on the life of Mike Tyson with Boyega in the title role wasn't picked up by producers.
He was playing video games when the call came that we won the 'Finn' role, but he told Abrams that he was on his way to an art gallery to appear sophisticated.
His character was initially by LucasFilms two weeks after he first appeared in the 'Force Awakens' trailer, and then only with the phrase 'Finn is on the run.'
He got a great deal of attention for only wearing one (black) glove during the 'Force Awakens' premiere (Dec. 2015).
He said 'acting careers don't come out fully formed - not unless your name is Jaden Smith and your dad has done it all.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He is of Nigerian descent.
His mother works with disabled children with special needs.
He grew up in a tough area, in the London county estate (the British equivalent to the projects).
He reportedly was able to stay out of gang violence through his activities with church and acting classes, preventing him from ending up either in prison or dead, like so many of his peers.
He was chosen as one of Screen International’s UK Stars of Tomorrow (2011).
He admits to being both a Michael Bay fanatic and an avid collector of Star Wars merchandise (self-proclaimed 'biggest fan boy in the galaxy').
J.J. Abrams made the now-rare, and refreshing, decision to cast him and Daisy Ridley, two relative unknowns, in the highly-anticipated Star Wars film (he and newcomer Ridley got along great, as a result).
He's a gifted mimic whose spot-on impressions of Master Yoda, Chewbacca, Michael Strahan, Harrison Ford, and Shrek's Pinocchio have all gone viral.
He was yet one more black performer to be hailed with racially-charged cyber attacks from disgruntled fans who refused to accept the change.
This included the launching of the Twitter hastag, #blackstormtrooper, Boyega soonafter posted on social media the blunt Noah-esqe reply, 'to whom it may concern.. get used to it! :)'
He was too nervous to watch the record-breaking 'Force' trailer, which garneredgenerated a record-breaking 58.2 to 75 million views in its first week, on his phone. He later filmed a video of himself watching it on a widescreen along with his ecstatic reaction to it (which also went viral on YouTube).
