Shot dead by his mother's boyfriend Christmas night at age 30
James Robert Malec, 48, arrested and charged with second-degree murder for the slaying

Why he might be annoying:

Football was his first love but he missed a college scholarship due to low high school SAT scores.
Highly sought out of college as a linebacker he went ahead with shoulder surgery, missed the draft combines and never played in the NFL.
After three straight losses between February 2005-06 the UFC dropped him.
The night he was slain an ex-girlfriend was in attendance at a family gathering and he went nuts, refusing orders to leave and throwing objects before being fatally wounded.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a well-liked member of the mixed martial arts community.
Missing out on the 2002 draft a few NFL teams approached him in 2003, but by then he was hooked on pro fighting.
Before his three UFC losses he had won six decisions in a row, and afterward won seven in a row.
He had many interests outside fighting, including golf, video gaming, fishing, camping and hunting.
A .45 caliber bullet blew a hole in his chest and killed him instantly.
His slaying was witnessed by his mother and 8-year-old son.
