She changed her last name to Nurmi when she came to Hollywood.

She was embarrassed to be in 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' and only agreed when all her lines were removed.
'Plan 9' is the only surviving footage of the Vampira character, meaning her voice has been lost.
She lost a lawsuit against Elvira for stealing her act.
