Monarch

The Resume

    (February 11, 1920-March 18, 1965)
    Born in Cairo, Egypt
    King of Egypt (1936-52)
Overthrown in a coup led by Gamal Abdel Nasser
    Died in exile in Rome

Why he might be annoying:

His lavish lifestyle, including European shopping sprees, gambling and womanizing, alienated his subjects.
He stole numerous objects, including Winston Churchill's pocket watch and a cermonial sword from the Shah of Iran.
He ballooned to nearly 300 pounds and one acquaintance described him as 'a stomach with a head.'
He reportedly knew every call girl in Rome by first name.

Why he might not be annoying:

After his coronation, he made a public radio address, becoming the first Egyptian monarch to speak to his people directly.
David Suchet modeled his mustache as Hercule Poirot on Farouk's.
He famously observed, 'There will soon be only five kings left: the Kings of England, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades and Clubs.'
