Why she might be annoying:

She was a close friend of Bette Midler.
One of her early command performances was for King Hassan II of Morocco (1972).
1975… she recorded a single called ‘Hustle Latino,’ which she would perform on American Bandstand.
Oh, her role on Phyllis? Barbara Colby played that exact role before she and another actor were fatally shot.
Her first award nomination came only in 1990 — for a guest role on The Famous Teddy Z!

Why she might not be annoying:

Well, a low-budget movie is a start! (‘Utterly Without Redeeming Social Value,’ in 1969, to be exact.)
Johnny Carson invited her onto The Tonight Show to perform a stand-up routine.
Another command performance was at the White House, for National Hispanic Heritage Week, during the tenure of Jimmy Carter (1977).
She has been married only once (in the mid-1970s).
Despite that late nomination, she maintained a consistent presence on the entertainment scene through six different decades.
