Airline Carrier

The Resume

Official carrier for football teams FC Barcelona, Olympique de Marseille, Aston Villa, FK Sarajevo, and A.S. Roma

Why they might be annoying:

It was highly susceptible to hijackings in its early years.
Its business is regularly hampered by conflicts within and around the Middle East.
It had a reputation for lousy customer service and delays during the 80s.
Within a decade of becoming a major airline, it had suffered seven major accidents (overall having 15 fatal incidents in their history).
Its most notorious was the 1974 crash of Turkish Airlines Flight 981, after a faulty cargo door broke off in flight off the coast of France (346 deaths resulted).
It had a sponsorship deal with Warner Brothers to promote 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,' filming a Gotham City commercial for the 2016 Super Bowl, with Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne.
A year later, Morgan Freeman filmed a spot for the 2017 Super Bowl in a cabin filled with doppelangers of himself (because who wouldn't wanna be on a plane full of Morgan Freemans?)
Its boarding/exit muzak is extremely tedious (not terrible, but can you imagine flight attendants having to suffer through that pipe tune on a daily basis?)

Why they might not be annoying:

It was conceived as the Turkish nation's 'ambassador to the world.'
It is the fourth-largest airline carrier - by number of destinations - in the world.
They serve more destinations non-stop from a single airport than any other airline in Europe.
It is the only major airline carrier known to deliver one-stop journeys between the US and 'hard-to-reach' destinations in Africa and the Middle East.
They filmed an Airlines Safety Video starring Vine/YouTube-magician star Zach King.
Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogba, Kevin Costner, Lionel Messi, and Kobe Bryant have all done promotional ads.
It was able to effectively weather the economic post-9/11 bust experienced by major airlines with limited damage.
It received Skytrax's Best Airline in Europe Award for five consecutive years in a row (2011 - 2016; although it had received 'Southern Europe's Best Airline' from 2009 - 2011).
They responded to an initial plea from Colin Kaepernick and Ben Stiller for funds to provide humanitarian aid to famine-stricken Somalia by donating an entire aircraft with which to ship supplies and food/water (Mar. 17, 2017).
A news story went viral detailing a Boeing 757 cabin crew's stepping in to help deliver a premature baby, after a mother unexpectedly went into labour mid-flight at 42,000 feet in the air (Apr. 10, 2017).
For an airline most readily susceptible to threats both foreign and domestic, they have their act together infinitely more than some of their major Western counterparts (ya don't see them yanking bloodied passengers from cabins because THEY overbooked...)
