Actor

The Resume

    (March 26, 1947-November 21, 1986)
    Born in Los Angeles, California
    Hollywood stuntman
Appeared in 'Papillon' (1973), 'The Towering Inferno' (1974), 'Rollerball' (1975), 'The Concorde: Airport 79' (1979), 'Airplane!' (1980), 'The Fall Guy' (1981-86), 'Sharky's Machine' (1982), 'Police Academy' (1984), 'Bachelor Party' (1984), 'To Live and Die in L.A.' (1986) and 'Lethal Weapon' (1987)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was cocky.
He performed a record-setting fall in 'Sharky's Machine' only to have the final edit clearly use a dummy for most of the scene.
After over a decade of spectacular stunts without a serious injury, he was killed by running over an embankment during a routine motorcycle chase scene.

Why he might not be annoying:

He earned a record $150,000 for a single stunt: free-falling 700 feet off the CN Tower in Toronto before deploying a concealed parachute only 300 feet from the ground.
He pioneered the use of dragline cables instead of air bags for jumps, allowing cameramen to film a top-down view of the fall without worrying about accidentally showing the airbag.
The last three films he worked on, including 'Lethal Weapon,' were dedicated to his memory.
