Born in Ilford, Essex, England, United Kingdom
    Sculptor and printmaker
Member of the Young British Artists (YBA) movement
Known for her casts of everyday objects

Why she might be annoying:

She had two sons out of wedlock.
Her first cast – the interior of a closet – was inspired by childhood memories of hiding in a dark closet.
’House’ -- a cast of the interior of a Victorian mansion -- ‘won’ the K Foundation Prize as worst work of art in Britain.
She complained, ‘It’s become far too easy to have a pop at modern art.’

Why she might not be annoying:

She enjoyed teaching, but gave it up when too many students ‘wanted to know how to become a wealthy artist. It wasn't really about making work any more, it was about having a big career.’
‘House’ won the Turner Prize for best work by a young British artist.
She was the first female winner of the Turner Prize.
She gave away the £40,000 she received from the K Foundation to a charity for the homeless and as grants for younger artists.
