Why he might be annoying:

    He bounced around between the NHL and the minors for most of his career.
    He missed out on a chance to win the Stanley Cup, as he was traded to the Maple Leafs the following year (1967-68).
    He was fired by the Sabres two years after losing the Stanley Cup Finals.
    He was involved in a car accident that cost him the chance to finish out his head coaching duties with the Leafs (1980).
    He traded the third overall pick in the 1991 Draft to the Devils, who used it to draft Scott Niedermayer.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He established himself as a regular in the NHL, when he got traded to the Red Wings.
    He served as the first team captain in the history of the Sabres franchise.
    He guided the Sabres to the franchise's first appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals (1975).
    He was one of a handful of the Leafs front office staff who was able to co-exist with Harold Ballard on a long-term basis.
    He made his year-round home in the Buffalo area following his tenure with the Sabres.
