Musician

The Resume

    (1956- )
    Born in Dallas, Texas
    Birth name is Kathleen Josey
Best known for singles 'Johnny Are You Queer?' (1981) and 'He Could Be the One' (1982)
Recorded albums 'Convertible Music' (1982), 'From the Hip' (1984), 'Frightened by Nightingales (1995) and 'Invasion of the B-Girls' (2007)

Why she might be annoying:

She is sometimes wrongly thought to be the granddaughter of Joseph Cotten.
For a time she went back to her birth name 'Josey,' then switched back to 'Cotten.'
Some gay activists denounced her biggest hit, 'Johnny Are You Queer?' as homophobic.
The video for 'Johnny Are You Queer?' features her harassing a timid nerd.
She said, 'Musically speaking you could describe me as suffering from multiple personality disorder.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She spoofs the plaintive girl singers of the 1950s.
She had her big break when the Go-Gos, the original performers of 'Johnny Are You Queer?,' refused to record it.
An oddball preacher insisted that 'Johnny Are You Queer?' was actually sung by a man.
Her music was featured in the feature films 'Valley Girl' (1983), 'Jackass II' (2006) and the TV show Glee (2011).
