    The band was Prince's pet project.
    They kept breaking up and reuniting, leading to numerous membership changes.
    Alexander O'Neal was tapped as the lead singer but wanted too much money. Morris Day then stepped in.
    Prince dismissed Jam and Lewis for missing their flight to a concert (1982).
    Their name is shared with a weekly magazine.

    Jam and Lewis went onto become 2 of the music industry's most successful production teams, most notably working with Janet Jackson.
    Morris Day was known as a charismatic, swaggering frontman.
