He went by Alfredo Griffin during his career, as a result of a scout's unfamiliarity with Spanish naming customs.
His full name consists of five names altogether.
He was remembered for being Damaso Garcia's plus one at the 1984 MLB All-Star Game.
He had a tendency to play overaggressive on the basepaths early in his career.
He missed the majority of the 1988 season, after he had his hand broken by a fast pitch.
