Why he might be annoying:

He used 'Family Feud' as an excuse to practice his stand-up comedy routine.
He was fired from 'Family Feud' in 1994 only to be replaced by Richard Dawson, the man he had originally replaced.
He was divorced.
He had financial trouble and massive debt in the later years of his life.
He committed suicide, leaving his wife and children destitute (1996).
He had small feet and enjoyed walking around in female contestant's high heels.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was discovered by Johnny Carson in 1986.
He said (on replacing Richard Dawson as the host of 'Family Feud') 'people say those are big shoes to fill. I don't have to wear his shoes. I've got my own.'
He was in a car accident that nearly left him paralyzed (1995).
His suicide was viewed by many as a senseless tragedy.
He still remains one of the most enthusiastic game show hosts to ever grace the stage.
