The Resume

    (November 25, 1988-February 12, 2010)
    Born in Borjomi, Georgia
Luge competitor for the Georgian Winter Olympic team in Vancouver (2010)
Died in a 140 km/h (87 mph) training run just prior to the opening ceremonies at age 21
    5’10 ½ and 176 lbs

Why he might be annoying:

Most competitors in his discipline do not reach their prime until their 30s.
Almost to the letter, he duplicated the fate of a luger for the 1964 British Olympic team.
He will never get to enjoy any Olympic – or other World – aspirations.

Why he might not be annoying:

He came by his love of luge honestly — his father was a competitor and his uncle was a coach.
Outside of a low wall, the track on which he died – at the final curve – did not have any known deficiencies.
As a result of his death, the men’s luge teams were moved to the women’s track to reduce speed (and according to some competitors simply accommodate their emotional whims).
