She once went to an audition wearing nurse scrubs.
She had ambitions to act from an early age but claimed she held off auditioning for years due to her weight.
Her career was nearly derailed after a neighbor unsuccessfully attempted to extort cash from her to get cosmetic surgery following her arrest for assault on a minor, causing her to slip into depression.
She was set to get major attention as Cuca in the movie version of 'In the Heights' but it had to get postponed due to the Coronavirus lockdown (sorry, have to wait til 2021!)

Why she might not be annoying:

She was born in the Dominican Republic, but grew up in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
She was a teenage single mom.
She had so little confidence about pursuing an acting career that she went to school to become a full-time nurse (attaining her degree from Hunter College in 2008).
Her daughter played a 14-year-old version of her Daya character on the fifth season of Orange.
She said: 'My parents taught me that God is going to send you obstacles in life and you have to overcome them.'
She uses her platform to advocate for body positivity and Hispanic representation in films and media.
