Why they might be annoying:

The name translates to 'Selena and The Guys!'
Except for Selena, members would dress in identical costumes while performing. Typical of larger sized bands (six or more members), musicians would join, leave, then get quickly replaced.
Selena was only nine when she joined.
During the early years, they performed at restaurants, weddings, street corners, quincaneras and birthday parties.
They hopped a few record labels before settling on EMI (Latin).

Why they might not be annoying:

In the mid 80's, the band performed at clubs slowly gaining a fan base.
Abraham used his background and experience as a musician to develop the band's talent and visibility.
The band consisted of Selena's two older siblings AB III (bassist) and Suzette (drums).
By 1987, hard work paid off as their album Munequito De Trapo (Rag Doll) was released gaining them further visibility and winning them numerous awards in the Tejano music genre.
The band was the launching pad for Selena's solo career.
Guitarist Chris Perez would join (1988) after responding to a casting call and would later marry Selena despite Abraham's opposing their relationship.
They disbanded shortly after Selena's death in 1995.
Ten years later on April 7, 2005, Suzette and AB III would get together and reunite with other band members to play a tribute concert title 'VIVA SELENA,' which became the highest-rated Spanish language show.
