Why he might be annoying
He's a Tea Party favorite.
His official campaign website: 'Ted Cruz for U.S. Senate: Second Amendment.'
Some consider him to be an arrogant self-promoter.
He supports limited government, except he thinks the government should outlaw abortion and same sex marriage.
That debate over the words 'under God' in the Pledge of Allegiance? He was at the forefront, and, claimed victory for the constitutionality of those words remaining in the Pledge.
He drew criticism for traveling to Cancun while Texas was dealing with an unprecedented deep freeze which overwhelmed the power grid (February 2021).
Why he might not be annoying
He attended Harvard Law School and Princeton.
He's a gifted orator and an excellent debater.
As an attorney, he argued nine cases before the United States Supreme Court.
Democrat James Carville called him 'America's most talented and fearless Republican.'
One area he found common ground with liberals: opposition to drone strikes.
