Sony Put a Trojan on My CD

In 2005 SONY released 52 CDs with XCP Content Protection Technology. The technology added a trojan to all computers playing those CDs in an attempt at copy protection. Sony did not reveal this to the general public. When it was found out that not only was it done without the CD purchaser's knowledge but potentionally damage computers. Sony decided to pull that technology. These are the 49 artists affected. Three different Rosanne Cash CDs had this protection. Ricky Martin's 'Life,' Peter Gallagher's '7 Days in Memphis' and Various Artists 'Hidden Beach Presents Unwrapped Vol. 4' were released with a content protection grid but in fact did not contain the XCP technology.
