The Resume

    (January 1, 1927-November 27, 2002)
    Born in Austin, Texas
Birth name was George Eastland Christian Jr.
White House Press Secretary for President Lyndon Johnson (February 1, 1967 – January 20, 1969)

Why he might be annoying:

He replaced Bill Moyers as Press Secretary after Moyers grew tired of defending the Johnson administration's Vietnam War policies and left to join Newsday.
He was the fourth and final Press Secretary for the administration within little more than two years.
While mostly popular with journalists, one correspondent reportedly said of him: 'George believes in the people's right to know only as much as L.B.J. thinks is good for them.'
He and Lady Bird talked LBJ out of running for reelection in 1968.
He later explained: 'I told him that I thought he could get the nomination, he could get elected, but it wouldn't be worth it, that the country would be almost impossible to govern.'
His thirteen year-old son shot his English teacher to death in front of classmates with his own .22 Long Rifle (May 18, 1978).

Why he might not be annoying:

He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and saw duty in Japan during the occupation.
He studied English and journalism at the University of Texas on the GI Bill after returning from service.
He spent seven years covering sports and local Texas politics for the International News Service before leaving journalism for government.
He served as press secretary for Governors Price Daniel and John Connally.
He wasn't bothered by the constant pressure the Johnson administration got, saying: 'We had one crisis after another. You had to deal with 'em, but you didn't lose sleep over 'em .... You just did your job.'
After leaving the White House, he returned to Austin, where he worked in public relations and government affairs, advising politicians such as Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.
