Why he might be annoying:

He was training to become an Olympic swimmer, but an appendectomy ended his goal.
He was extremely furry and needed extensive hair removal for his bare-chested performance in 'Hiawatha.'
He cashed in on his 'Ben Casey' fame to get a record contract, recording albums and singing at lounges in New York, Las Vegas and L.A.
He was married four times, with his first marriage lasting just five months (1965).
He turned down the doctor role in the 1980 comedy hit 'Airplane!' that revived Leslie Nielsen's career.
Bo Jackson's birth name is Vincent Edward Jackson, and is named after him.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a stand-out swimmer in high school, and while attending Ohio State University, helped his swim team win the U.S. National Championships.
Bing Crosby discovered his acting talent and pegged him for his production company's filming of 'Ben Casey,' turning him into a superstar.
His 'Ben Casey' character was parodied as a mad scientist on an episode of 'The Flintstones.'
He directed seven episodes of 'Ben Casey,' then later directed episodes on TV shows such as 'The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries,' 'Battlestar Galactica,' 'Fantasy Island,' 'The Fall Guy' and 'In the Heat of the Night.'
His lounge singing engagements were usually sell-outs, and his LP 'Vincent Edwards Sings' reached the Top 20 on Billboard's Album chart in 1962.
He finished filming 'The Fear' even after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
