    Head coach of the men's basketball team at South Dakota State University (1919-26) and the University of North Dakota (1944-45)
    Head coach of the football teams at South Dakota State University (1919-27), the University of North Dakota (1944-45) and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1946-48)
    Athletic director at the University of North Dakota (1928-46)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was one of six children in his family.
    He went by Jack, although his actual name was Charles.
    He left a comfortable position at UND to take the Blue Bombers coaching job, only to leave after three seasons.
    His stint in Winnipeg is remembered for losing both his appearances in the Grey Cup game.
    He named his son after himself.

    He was able to juggle two to three roles at the college ranks with no hesitations.
    He won eleven conference titles during his NCAA football coaching career.
    He posted a record of 134–55–14 as a football head coach and a record of 74–66 as a basketball head coach.
    His teams were considered to be well prepared and focused by sports pundits.
    He guided the Blue Bombers to back-to-back Grey Cup appearances in his first two seasons as head coach.
