Birth name was George Reginald Horner
Defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs (1928–40)

Why he might be annoying:

He went by ‘Red’, rather than his birth name of George.

His induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame proved to be controversial as some pundits felt he didn’t have the statistics worthy for induction.

He spent his entire career with the Maple Leafs.
He served as the Maple Leafs team captain for two seasons.
He was a successful entrepreneur following his athletic career.
He participated in both the opening and closing ceremonies of Maple Leaf Gardens, along with the opening ceremonies at the Air Canada Centre (now Scotiabank Arena; 1999).
