The Resume

    (February 18, 1941- )
Born in Long Island, New York
    Portrayed Smith on Star Trek
Acted in 'The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming (1966)' and 'Come Spy With Me (1967)'
Best known as the Clairol ‘Summer Blonde’ girl in TV and print ads

Why she might be annoying:

She briefly dropped out of UConn and hitchhiked to San Francisco before ultimately returning.
Her Smith character was intended to be a regular on Star Trek, but was scrapped after the pilot was picked up and replaced by Uhura.
She has admitted this is mainly because she had been given the choice of doing the film The Russians Are Coming or staying with the show in the event it was picked up (further admitting that she would have chosen the latter had she known it was going to be the phenomenon it was).
Star Trek director Jimmy Goldstone claimed that to have heard Gene Roddenberry say that he only cast her as Smith because she was attractive and he wanted ‘to score with her.’
She got tired of the Hollywood scene and returned to New York after only three acting jobs.

Why she might not be annoying:

She began her career as a child model at the age of six, and took a break from it in her teens to focus on school.
Her first major appearance as an adult was in a 1963 National Airlines television commercial as a stewardess who asks ‘Is this any way to run an airline? You bet it is!’
She benefited from the brief exposure from her Hollywood roles and secured the ‘Summer Blonde’ campaign upon returning to New York which kept her going throughout the 1960’s.
She retired after the end of her modeling career to take care of her mother, in Long Island, and has largely avoided the spotlight since then.
Her character was a minor one in the Star Trek pilot, but received a major upgrade appearing in the fan-made web series Star Trek Continues, this time with a first name and as a Lieutenant (played by Kipleigh Brown).
