The Resume

    (January 31, 1673-April 28, 1716)
    Born in Montfort-sur-Meu, France
    French priest, author, and missionary
Most well known for his Marian devotion and writings on the Blessed Virgin Mary
Books include; The Secret of the Rosary, True Devotion to Mary and many others
Canonized saint and Doctor of the Catholic Church

Why he might be annoying:

Most protestants and even some Catholics consider his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary misplaced and feel it takes away from devotion to Jesus Christ.
He didn't get along with his Church's hierarchy and spent most of his career as a priest as an itinerant preacher.

Why he might not be annoying:

    His motto was 'God Alone.'
He wrote over 20,000 verses of very literate and intelligent hymns.
His writings are the basis of modern Mariology and have directly inspired the works of four popes.
He tried to build a replica of Calvary in Pontchateau but it was destroyed by Jansenists.
He dedicated his life to helping those less well off than he was.
