Why he might be annoying:

    He was the 'token black guy' and had to play all the black roles, both male and female.
    He was addicted to cocaine and was often late to rehearsals while he free based in his dressing room.
    He suffered with extreme paranoia believing people were following him.
    He once laid out five sandwiches and told someone they would be gone when they came back to his dressing room.
    Although his cocaine abuse was known, NBC executives would advance Garrett his salary so he could purchase more.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He worked on his first script for SNL called 'Colored Man' a black Superman. Head writer Michael O'Donahue looked it over and threw it in the garbage, in front of him.
    He was shot in the chest and arm by a would-be-robber on his 57th birthday (1994).
    His most famous SNL role was when he would repeat the top story on Weekend Update for the benefit of the deaf, he would scream the story out.
