Why she might be annoying:

She's the reason why your parents kept telling you to keep your elbows off the table and say 'please' and 'thank you.'
She once spilled some berries at a dinner, which was soon widely reported in the press.
She said that an unmarried woman should never visit a man in his apartment by herself (cock-blocker!).
The U.S. printed a 32¢ stamp in her honor, but instead of her picture they used a place setting to represent her.

Why she might not be annoying:

Although she herself came from a well-to-do family, she hated pretentious people.
She wrote short stories that were published in magazines like Vanity Fair and McCall's.
She wrote her etiquette book for people from all sections of society.
She formed the Emily Post Institute to promote good manners.
She was a working woman when independently wealthy society women were virtually unheard.
'Emily Post's Etiquette' continues to be revised and updated by her descendants.
