Why Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew might be annoying:

    It puts addicts on the air for our amusement.
    Probably not surprisingly, many of the participants were unable to remain sober.
    Although he managed to kick the booze and cocaine habit, Jeff Conaway remained addicted to analgesics (back pain medication).
    MadTV did a parody, with Michael McDonald playing the good doctor as a gleeful publicity hog.

Why Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew might not be annoying:

    It helps to give names to drugs of all kinds.
    It’s a hotbed of mostly ad hoc humor — particularly from Gary Busey (e.g. the fishing trip in the second season).
    Even the good doctor admits being in over his head sometimes.
    It doesn’t spare all the gory graphic details — for example, Amber Smith laying on the ground retching into a wastebasket.
    The video for ‘Watch Over You’ by Alter Bridge featured snippets of the series.
