Why he might be annoying:

    He had the less than intimidating nickname 'Bambi' (which was inspired by his baby-faced appearance).
    He was married three times, divorced twice.
    His first post-football business, a real estate firm, went bankrupt.
    He ticked off many Chargers fans when he asked Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis to present him during his Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Why he might not be annoying:

    In high school, he earned 15 letters in four sports.
    He was a three-time Academic All American at the University of Arkansas.
    At a time when AFL players got little respect from the media, Sports Illustrated declared him 'pro football's top receiver.'
    He set a record by catching passes in 96 consecutive games.
    Two of his daughters died in infancy.
    He holds a patent for the Tuna Tube, a device fishermen use to keep tuna alive for up to ten days.
