Why he might be annoying:

    He was named to a list of the ten most 'legendary' Washington lawyers of all-time.
    He ran for a US Senate seat, losing the special election to fill the late John Heinz's open seat (1991).
    His opponent in the Senate race, Democrat Harris Wofford, labeled him the 'Two Dick Thornburghs'.
    His family made a list of their 25 greatest movies of all-time. 'The Godfather' parts 1 & 2 were included, but strangely part 3 was left on the list.
    He was the independent investigator hired by CBS to look in to Dan Rather's controversial report on some of George W. Bush's records from his time in the Texas Air National Guard.
    He had two wives named 'Ginny'.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He received his law degree from University of Pittsburgh and did his undergrad work at Yale.
    His first wife (first Ginny) died in a car accident, which also left one of his children disabled (1960).
    During his time as Attorney General, he was influential in helping enact the Americans with Disabilities Act.
    He was praised for his handling of the 'Three Mile Island' accident which occurred less than 3 months after he became Pennsylvania Governor.
    He was considered an effective governor, balancing Pennsylvania's budget for 8 consecutive years.
    He was tough on white collar criminals and organized crime, while at the same time, being one of the first US attorneys to go after the steel industry for environmental pollution.
