Why he might be annoying:

One of his jobs before stand-up was cleaning toilets.

He disliked having his humor described as surreal: ‘I don’t think people know how to use the word.’
He introduced himself in a charity video by saying, ‘I’m Sean Lock. You may know me as that bloke off the telly whose name you can’t remember.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Comic (2000).
He had a reputation as a ‘comedian’s comedian.’
The Telegraph described him as ‘Samuel Beckett trapped in a Tommy Cooper punchline.’
He said, ‘There's something utterly delightful and slightly pure about a really good joke, and to create one is a great pleasure.’
